🗑 DATA DELETION · UPDATED 14 AUGUST 2026

Delete everything we hold about you

There are no accounts on this app. You never made one, so there is nothing to log into and nothing to close. What exists is a random ID your phone made up, and whatever settings you attached to it. This page tells you how to get rid of all of it.

The one-line version

In the app, open the Alerts tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my data. It is gone immediately — not queued, not a ticket for someone to action on Monday.

It has to work that way round, and the reason is worth stating. The only thing identifying you is a random ID your phone invented, which nothing ever shows you. So if you emailed us asking to be deleted, we could not find your row — you would have no way to tell us which one was yours, and we would have no way to check. The button knows, because it is running on the phone that made the ID.

For the email alerts from the website, email is the right route, because there we do know your address. Write to hello@kraftstories.com from the address you signed up with, or use the unsubscribe link in any email we have sent you. We action it within 30 days and normally the same day.

Three ways to do it

The button in the app

Alerts tab, bottom of the screen, “Delete my data”. Your settings, your followed studios, your push token and the log of what we sent you are deleted from our database on the spot, and the app forgets its own ID. Open it again afterwards and you are a brand new install with nothing attached to you.

Immediate, and complete

Email us — for email alerts

The website’s email alerts are keyed to your address, so we can find and delete those on request. Every email we send also carries an unsubscribe link, which stops the sending straight away.

Within 30 days

Uninstall the app

Notifications stop, because the push token dies with the app. But it does not erase the row — Apple and Google never tell us you uninstalled, so we have no way to know it happened. Tap the button before you delete the app if you want it actually gone.

Stops alerts, keeps the row

What gets deleted

All of the below, permanently, not flagged as hidden and kept in a corner.

  • A random device ID. Generated on your phone the first time you open the app and stored there. It is not your Apple or Android advertising ID, it is not tied to your name, and it never leaves the app except to tell our server which device to send an alert to.
  • A push token. Issued by Apple or Google via Expo. It is the address a notification is delivered to. Without it we cannot send you anything, which is the whole reason it exists.
  • Your alert settings. Which topics you switched on, which categories and regions you picked, any price ceiling, and the wording of the consent you were shown when you enabled a topic.
  • Anything you saved or watched. The classes and events you asked to be told about.
  • A log of alerts we sent you. Which notification went to your device, when, and whether it was opened. This is how we tell a useful alert from an annoying one.
  • Your phone, app version and time zone. So an alert about a Friday evening class does not arrive at 3am, and so we can tell whether a bug affects one platform or both.
  • Your email address — only if you gave us one. The app does not ask for one. If you signed up for the email alerts on the website, that address is stored with the same kind of preferences.

What we never had in the first place

Worth listing, because “delete my data” is usually asked by someone who does not know what was taken. For this app, the answer is mostly nothing.

  • Your name, unless you typed it into a message to us
  • Your location. The app never asks for it and cannot read it
  • Your calendar. The app asks permission to add an event to it, which happens on your phone; we never read it and nothing from it reaches our server
  • Your contacts, photos, microphone or camera
  • Any payment details, because nothing here is for sale

What survives, and why

Two things, and we would rather say so than let you find out.

Aggregate analytics that cannot be traced back to you

Counts like “the rainy-day guide was read 400 times this week” stay, because by the time they reach us they are a number and not a person. There is no key in them to find you by, which also means there is nothing in them we could delete on request even if you asked.

Email you have actually sent us

If you wrote to us, that message sits in a mailbox like any other correspondence. Ask and we will delete that too — it just is not automatic, because deleting the thread that contains your deletion request is a slightly silly thing to do by default.

Routine retention — how long things stick around when you have not asked for deletion — is in the privacy policy.

Who you are asking

Local Hawaii Events is run by KraftStories, 15 N Pauahi St, Honolulu, HI 96817. Requests go to hello@kraftstories.com and a person reads them.
