Pottery Classes on Oʻahu

There are really three formats, and which one you want depends on how much time you can commit. The ten-week term is what the Honolulu Museum of Art School runs (Intro to Ceramics, Wheel-throwing for Beginners, Hand-building for Beginners), starting in October and again in the new year, at roughly $275–$325. You get a locker, kiln access and a real progression from centering to glazed, fired work. The catch is you commit to the same evening or Saturday for two and a half months.

The short course — Mudd Studio's six-week wheel course ($450, one two-hour session a week) or its three-day wheel workshop ($245 across three afternoons) — gets you on the wheel faster and with less to lose if you discover you don't love it. And the one-off workshop, which is Fishcake's territory in Kakaʻako ($85 for a ring vase, $130 for shisa figures, $375 for kintsugi), is a single afternoon with something to take home.

If you are choosing blind: try a one-off first. It costs less than a term and you'll know within two hours whether you want to sit at a wheel every Wednesday until December.

Registration windows matter for pottery more than any other craft on the island (HoMA's fall term sells out its beginner wheel sections), so if a class shows as closed we tell you when the next section starts.
