Jazz & Poetry Night at Plantoem

About

Jazz & Poetry Night at Plantoem is a free monthly evening of live jazz and open-mic poetry at Plantoem, the plant shop and café at 3457 Waialae Avenue, Unit 203, in Kaimukī, Honolulu. It runs from 7 to 9 pm on the third Thursday of each month. Guests are encouraged to read a poem they wrote or one by another poet while jazz plays throughout the night. The page describes it as a free public event that you can simply walk in and join, with a listed price of $0.00. Seating is limited and first come, first served, and signing up online does not guarantee a seat, so arrive early. The product page showed the listing as sold out when we checked. No minimum age is printed. The café is open during the event for drink purchases, though alcohol is not allowed, and the plant shop stays open for shopping until closing time. Parking in the building is limited. The page says free street parking is about a five-minute walk away on 9th and 10th Avenue. You can reach Plantoem on 808-807-7826 or info@plantoem.com. The next one is on October 15, the same day as a harmonica workshop at the Waikiki Community Center in the afternoon and Big Freedia's Honolulu Pride Concert at the Hawaii Theatre.
