Purpose

About

Purpose is Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's family drama, which won the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and Manoa Valley Theatre stages it from January 21 to February 7, 2027. It follows a prominent family and the tensions that surface when its members come together. The theatre's website did not give a detailed synopsis, performance days, curtain times or running time when this listing was written, so check its ticketing site for the schedule. No age rating is printed. As a contemporary drama for adult audiences, it is best suited to older teenagers and adults, and the box office can advise on content. Single-ticket prices are not printed on the theatre's page, which links to its ticketing site. The theatre also sells Pick Your Pack subscriptions starting at $200, with savings of up to 10 percent, and the page shows Purpose in its subscription lineup. Manoa Valley Theatre is at 2833 E Manoa Road in Mānoa, Honolulu. Parking is not mentioned on the page. On our calendar this is the fourth of eight Manoa Valley Theatre productions this season, after Peter Pan Goes Wrong, and The Producers follows on March 18. Kumu Kahua Theatre opens All Buss Up in a Hi State on the same day, January 21, and Diamond Head Theatre opens Into the Woods on January 22.
