Hairspray
About
Hairspray is the Diamond Head Theatre's summer 2027 musical, running July 23 to August 8, 2027, at 520 Makapuʻu Avenue near Diamond Head in Honolulu. It is the sixth and final production of the theatre's 2026-27 season, the story of a teenager who dances her way onto a 1960s Baltimore television dance show and takes on its segregation along the way. The theatre's show page lists the dates but not the performance times or an age recommendation for this title. It does say that everyone, regardless of age, needs a ticket, that there is no lap seating, and that children under 5 are advised to attend only toddler-friendly shows. Some shows contain mature themes, and parents decide what suits their children. Tickets are printed as $39 to $66, subject to change, with a $2 processing fee per ticket on single-ticket phone or online purchases. Sales are final, so there are no refunds or exchanges. The box office is on (808) 733-0274, open Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm. Parking is in the lot behind the building off Alohea Avenue, or in the Kapiʻolani Community College lot across the street. On this calendar the theatre's earlier productions are the Grinch on November 20, Into the Woods on January 22, Suffs on March 12 and Pirates of Penzance on May 21.
