Introduction to Classical Oil Painting is a ten-class weekend course at Zwick Academy of Fine Art, 1109 Maunakea Street, Honolulu. Students complete small projects on linear drawing, value, temperature and color mixing, working from life on set-up still lifes with measuring techniques for accurate proportions. They block in values, learn the process from drawing to block-in to finishing, mix with a color wheel and organize a palette, then create their own still life composition in the second half. The course closes with an introduction to portrait and figure painting, including flesh tones. Each class has live demonstrations, handouts and daily one-on-one critiques.
