Lauhala Weaving Lessons
About
A free lauhala weaving lesson every Wednesday at 11:30 AM at Royal Hawaiian Center, 2201 Kalākaua Ave in Waikīkī — plaiting dried hala leaves into a small piece you keep. Free, no registration. RHC runs five free cultural lessons a week (ʻukulele Mon, hula Tue, lauhala Wed, keiki hula Thu, lei Fri, all 11:30 AM) plus nightly music at the Royal Grove — the densest run of free Hawaiian cultural programming on our calendar. HoMA Art School runs a ten-week 'Ulana Lau Hala' course from October 17 ($318) if you want to go deeper.
