About

The monthly open workday at Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi's 405-acre Heʻeia wetland and loʻi, 8:30 am to noon on the first Saturday: planting and weeding kalo, clearing invasive mangrove and helping restore native habitat on land that was sugar cane and then cattle pasture. Wear clothes that can get muddy, slippers for the loʻi (nothing that will get lost in the mud) and closed-toe shoes for conservation work; bring water and sun protection. Sign up on their SignUpGenius and complete the waiver first; the page does not state a price. It is one of three first-Saturday workdays we track on Oʻahu, and the only one on the Windward side.

Checked by a human against the venue's own listing on Aug 16, 2026. How we verify
