Weekday-morning volunteering in the taro patches and gardens at Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi in Heʻeia, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 am to noon — planting, weeding, harvesting and whatever the season needs. Every Thursday from 8 to 11 am, volunteers help Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi turn its Heʻeia kalo into poi and kūlolo — cleaning, cooking and processing in the production kitchen rather than in the mud.
