Weekday-morning volunteering in the taro patches and gardens at Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi in Heʻeia, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 am to noon — planting, weeding, harvesting and whatever the season needs. Slippers for the loʻi, work clothes, water and sun protection; sign up on SignUpGenius and complete the waiver. No price is stated. Between these, the Thursday poi days and the first-Saturday workday, Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi is the most frequent volunteer opportunity on our calendar.
